The planning documents for the Mountmellick FRS were submitted to An Coimisiún Pleanála in Dublin on Tuesday 28 October 2025. The documents can be accessed electronically or viewed in paper form as detailed below. The documents will be available from 3 November 2025 to 15 December 2025 inclusive.

On Tuesday 28 October 2025 the planning application for the Mountmellick Flood Relief Scheme (FRS) was submitted to An Coimisiún Pleanála in Dublin.
The planning submission documents will be uploaded to this site on 3 November 2025 and paper copies will be available to view during public opening hours at the offices of Laois County Council in Portlaoise and Mountmellick Library, O'Moore Street, Mountmellick as well as the offices of An Coimisiún Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1. The documents will be available up to and including 15 December 2025.

A meeting was held on Monday 18 August 2025 to provide the elected representatives with an update regarding the progress of the Mountmellick Flood Relief Scheme (FRS) and the proposal to submit for planning approval to An Coimisiún Pleanála for the scheme which will provide for flood protection up to a 1 in 100-year event.
